Dr. Clayton F Sandy
Is a band member of the Sioux Valley Dakota first Nation in Manitoba .
He is a retired civil servant from the Manitoba government with near 40 years of service.
Parents, siblings are Residential school survivors and he is a sixties scoop survivor.
He feels most of his career was educating non Indigenous colleagues the complex history of Indigenous peoples of Canada.
As well his job was to help Indigenous youth/adults transition from school, street, incarnation, gangs to employment or post secondary education.
He calls Winnipeg home and loves living in the largest reserve in Canada.
He is married, 2 sons and 5 grandchildren, which are his pride and joy.
He is a hockey Grandpa most winters.
In his retirement, he still keeps active by sitting on a few boards and runs a program called the Turtle Island Project Blanket Exercise.
He is glad to be included in this important project with Pukitwugan to help youth transition to a healthy way of life.
